Web Designer in Tasmania

I’m a web designer based in Tasmania and passionate about helping small businesses develop an online presence that stands out from the crowd.

Why choose me as your web designer?

Having a compelling website is more important now than ever. It’s like an online shopfront that is visible 24/7.

Most clients get in touch with me, because they realised that building their own website is stressful and very time consuming. They get drawn in by marketing campaigns from DIY website builders like WIX, Squarespace, Shopify and the like, but it turned out that it’s not that easy to build your own website and those platforms are quite limiting.

I’d like to help take away the stress and turn it into a fun project for you. I’ll make sure the whole process is transparent from start to finish and check in with you regularly to make sure you are 100% happy with the design. I am a perfectionist and take pride in my work.

At the end of the project, you will have saved a lot of time, kept your sanity and invested into a great tool that will help you grow your business.

STRESSFUL 'DIY' WEBSITE

It’s easy to get drawn in by the marketing campaigns of DIY website builders, like WIX, Shopify, Squarespace etc.

More often than not, people come to me after they started their website with a DIY builder and realised it’s not that easy or they found out about the limitations of those platforms. A lot of times, people give up and let the website sit on the server half finished..

I'M RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE!

If you would like to save yourself the hassle of trying to build a website yourself OR you are fed up with the big agencies, because they charge too much and take forever to answer your calls and emails…

…then get in touch with me today to discuss your project. I pride myself on customer service and beautiful designs – all at a fair rate!

Busy business man running

BUSY WEB AGENCIES..

Web agencies are often under time pressure. They take on a lot of clients, so you are just another number.

Often the bigger companies also charge BIG money to be able to pay their staff. They  can also add a bigger price tag just because they have an established name plus they usually want to filter out the clients that are willing to spend more money.

My Web Design Process

1) Discovery Session

This will be the time for you to tell me about your business or project and to talk me through how you envision your new website.

I will also ask you a number of questions, i.e. who your customers are, what you want your website to achieve (sales, call scheduling, new memberships, etc.)

2) Planning & layout

After we agreed on the key components of your website, I will draft a menu structure and website hierarchy.

Once you approve the structure, I will design the home page (landing page) and one sub page and send them over to you to approve the general design.

3) Website building

If you are happy with the general design & layout, I can go ahead and design all web pages of your new site and implement any requested features.

I will also make sure that your website is responsive and works well on different devices and browsers.

4) Revisions

In the revisions phase, you can take a look at the new website and send through any changes you’d like me to make.

Once you give me the thumbs up, I will launch your new website and submit the sitemap to Google, so it can be indexed by search engines.

4 vital things to keep in mind for your new website design

There are many ways to design websites. I listed some best practices below to keep in mind for building a new website.

1) Standing out from the crowd.

Sure, you want your website to stand out from the competition. However, try not to get lost in the design. Too many funky features can slow your website down and you’ll loose potential clients, because they won’t hang around and wait for your website to load. It’s a bit like standing in front of the mirror for hours doing your hair and make up, but then missing out on the party.

I know how to design a beautiful, fast loading website with call to actions that get your customers to stay on your page for longer (which in turn helps with your Google ranking).

2) Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

You only need a landing page? That’s fine, I can help you with that.

But if you want to be found on search engines like Google, there is a bit more work to be done ‘behind the scenes’ of your website.

I speak from experience. About a decade ago, my partner and I started a new purpose driven tourism business from a passion of ours. We knew that our product was very different (and of course much better) than the products offered by our competition, but we had to sell this to the public. Our biggest competitor happened to be the most successful tourism operator in the state, so not an easy task. Long story short, WE DID IT! A few years on and we ranked in the top 10% of tourism operators world wide. Search engine optimisation was a big component in the success of our business and I discovered my love for web design.

You have no idea what this search engine optimisation is all about? Don’t fret. I’d be happy to explain it all to you in simple words – I’m good at using cars or cake recipes as analogies to SEO. 🙂

3) Colour theory & design principles

When designing a website, you want to stick to some basic design principles. Things like fonts that work well together, a colour palette that is in line with your branding, perhaps some animation or other quirks that make your website reflect your business personality.

I don’t expect you to do all this yourself. Hand your idea over to me and I’ll come back with a beautiful website designed with functionality in mind.

4) Budget

You’re only a small start-up with a limited budget? I get it. No need to call the big agencies and pay horrendous fees to get you started.

I love designing and I’m passionate about helping new small businesses with their first steps at a fair rate.

Keep in mind though that your website is likely going to be one of your most important tools to win customers and investing into a good website pays off quickly.
