Trust. An important part of any relationship - be it private or professional. How about the trust you have in yourself?
I recently had a conversation with the beautiful @lisakingston_ (Palawa woman & metaphysical healer) and she encouraged me to trust my intuition more.
We all know the feeling. It’s subtle and doesn’t clamour for attention, which is why it’s easily missed. Sometimes on the other hand, it can be quite obvious, but we may still choose to follow our to-do list or other advice instead of following our heart and our gut feeling.

It seems fitting to share their story on #InternationalWomensDay …
Founder Kaja is an inspiration for women in science, business and conservation alike.
Kaja studied pharmacy, completed her PHD, successfully applied for research funding allowing her to explore the chemistry & medicinal properties of native Tasmanian plants, then realised her life long dream of setting up a bush apothecary.
@herbae_thylacini are committed to reducing atmospheric pollution by sourcing herbs and plants directly from Australian growers & indigenous communities and by preparing their own extracts by hand. Certified organic plants loaded with antioxidants represent well over half of the ingredients in their products. What you get is pure, honest goodness without the need of chemicals.
To reflect their values, Kaja asked me to take photos in 1) a forest setting using native plants as decoration 2) a studio setting showing a range of products for future website content, featuring some of the herbal ingredients 3) products being used.

When my partner and I started our small tourism bu

When my partner and I started our small tourism business, it was scary! We had some amazing friends who supported us from the get go, but with a very limited marketing budget, we really had to weigh up and decide what marketing tools we’d invest into.
Social media is a good tool to stay in the top of people’s minds. However, it can also draw you in so much that you end up feeling drained and you waste special time that would be better spent on your business, family or yourself.
For us the very best marketing tool was hands down word of mouth. We would give our guests a free usb stick with videos of their experience together with a ‘thank you’ card encouraging people to tell their friends about it. A day after their experience, we also send out a thank you email. We made sure to always deliver the highest customer service. Email enquiries were responded to within hours (not days). Our guests felt like they were special and not just another ‘number’ and this truely stood out to them. In fact, we do think that all our guests are special, because without them we wouldn’t have the opportunity to run the business.
The second best thing for us to do was to optimise our website for search engines. Most people search for things to do online. We don’t even print brochures as it is against our values to waste precious resources and to be frank, lots of brochures just end up in the rubbish.
Focussing on these two marketing tools helped us rank in the top 10% of attractions world wide on TripAdvisor.
We still post on social media, but only when we feel like it and when we have something interesting to share. There is no pressure to show up on social media every day.

Yesterday was the official book launch of the @_astro_diary_ with mini readings in Copping @the_dustymermaid vintage shop.
For someone who has never had a reading before, I was intrigued by how much sense it all made. ✨
Ariel Korobacz is the author of this magical diary that aligns with the Astrological year and begins as the Sun enters Aries on the 20th March. It features beautiful illustrations by Ariel herself, offers plenty of space for planning and invites you to keep a journal of your thoughts, feelings and projections. 🌙
Two more book launches are being held:
> Today, Saturday 25th, at Ninapatina in Huonaville from 2-4pm.
> Tomorrow, Sunday 26th, at The Aurora Fae in Geeveston from 11am - 4pm.
*Image of the #AuroraAustralis was not from yesterday.. I took it on a special day last year, when the aurora was so intense that I could even capture on my phone, sitting in my little car with a hot chocolate in hand. 💜

You may or may not have heard about this in the news: For me it’s pretty devastating to know that the pristine Flinders Island in Bass Strait / Northern Tasmania is now on the map for salmon and other fin fish farm expansions. I live in an area with several fish farms and it is more than obvious how they destroy marine habitat. Instead of the typical crystal clear Tassie water, the ocean became murky and full of fish faeces and there is an unnatural overgrowth of slimy disgusting algae. Scientists call these areas ‘dead zones’.
I’m stoked that I could help out the good crew over on Flinders Island to rally and prepare information sessions for the community with this sticker design.
